沖繩ハ西海道薩摩ノ南、海中ニ散在セル島國ナ
リ。北緯二十四度十分ヨリ。二十七度五十分ニ至
リ。經度ハ西經十一度十分ニ起リテ。十六度五十
二分ニ止ル。東ハ太平洋ニ面シ。西ハ淸國ノ福建
泉州ト、遙々海水ヲ隔テ。北ハ麑島縣大島諸島ト、
地脉相連レリ。西南ハ台灣島ニ密邇ス。戸數七萬
五千五百七十餘ニシテ。人口三十六萬三千八百
三拾餘アリ。

沖縄は西海道薩摩の南、海中に散在する島国である。北緯二十四度十分から二十七度五十分に至り、経度は西経十一度十分に始まって十六度五十二分に止まる。東は太平洋に面し、西は清国の福建泉州と、はるばると海水を隔て、北は鹿児島県大島諸島と地脈が相連なっている。西南は台湾島に近接している。戸数七万五千五百七十余であって、人口三十六万三千八百三十余がある。

General Overview
Okinawa is an island nation scattered in the sea south of Satsuma in the Western Sea Circuit. It extends from 24 degrees 10 minutes to 27 degrees 50 minutes north latitude, and its longitude ranges from 11 degrees 10 minutes to 16 degrees 52 minutes west longitude. To the east it faces the Pacific Ocean, to the west it is separated by vast ocean waters from Fujian and Quanzhou of the Qing Empire, to the north it is connected by geological formations to the Oshima Islands of Kagoshima Prefecture. To the southwest it is close to Taiwan Island. There are over 75,570 households, with a population of over 363,830 people.
