唐土（もろこし）にては神農氏（しんのうし）。耒耜（くは）を製（せい）し民（たみ）に耕作（かうさく）を
教（をしへ） 吾朝（わがてう）にては。千早振（ちはやふる）神代（かみよ）のむかし。瓢象（ひさかた）＃1の天（あめ）の
狭田（さなだ）に。植（うゑ）そめて。民（たみ）を養（やしな）ふ。種（たな）つもの。五穀（ごこく）の司（つかさ）。
飯米（まんま）天皇（てんわう）と申／奉（たてまつ）るは。あまねく万民（ばんみん）を恵（めぐ）也。
仁徳（じんとく）ふかくまし〳〵ければ。天下（てんか）こぞつて尊（たつとみ）けり。

唐土（中国）では神農氏が鍬（くわ）を作り、民に耕作を教えた。わが朝廷（日本）では、千早振る神代の昔、はるかな天の狭田（さなだ）に稲を植え始めて、民を養う穀物の神、五穀の司であらせられる飯米天皇（まんまてんわう）と申し奉るお方は、あまねく万民を恵み給うものである。その仁徳は深くいらっしゃるので、天下こぞって尊び申し上げた。

Chapter One
In China, the Divine Farmer Shennong fashioned the plow and taught the people the art of cultivation. Here in our land of Japan, in the distant age of the gods — that age of the soaring heavens — rice was first planted in the celestial narrow paddies of Heaven, to nourish the people. The deity who presides over the five grains, the lord of cultivated things, known and revered as His Majesty Emperor Manma (Rice-and-Meal), bestows blessings upon all the people of the realm far and wide. So deep was his benevolence and virtue that all under heaven held him in the highest reverence.
