現代語訳
「耳の垢を掃え」と仰せられるので、「畏まって候」と、鋤・鍬・鶴嘴の柄で垢を掘って担い出す。
奥の垢はまた口より豪快に溜まった。

英語訳
"Clean the earwax," he commanded, so they replied "Yes, sir" and dug out the wax with the handles of hoes, mattocks, and pickaxes, then carried it away.
The wax deep inside had accumulated even more abundantly than at the mouth.
