At that time, two men who had been left on the island swam out to the ship. Wondering what this was about, they came to express their regret at parting from the captain, offering a package of mutton and apologizing for the shame of having received such great kindness. The captain also gave each of them a garment and sent them back by small boat. ◯ I said, "Let us tie the corpse of that bandit leader high on the ship's bow and display it, so that other pirates on the sea route will be chilled to the bone and, fearing us, will not dare approach."
