リ取テ桴トセシ板ニテ椅子及ヒ机案ヲ造ル又削レ
ル板広キコト一尺五寸ナルヲ以室ノ一方ニ架シ諸器
械鉄器ヲ又壁ニ釘シテ大小ノ銃及諸器ヲ掛ク若シ
人ヲシテ此室ヲ見セシムレハ必言ン此室中必用ノ諸
具ノミ玩弄嗜好ノ冗物一モ有所ナシト◯初メ我上
陸セシ時許多ノ潮水ヲ吐キ衰弱甚シクシテ足ヲ集メ
手ヲ叉（サ）シ倀々然トシテ終ニ地ニ臥スト雖猛獣ヲ恐レ
テ寐ネス其後両日ノ間ハ山ニ登リ又破舶ニ至リシ

て厚い壁とする。その後一年を経てその上に片流れの屋根を架ける。その上の一方は自然の岩に寄せて支える。皆林の木や枝を用いる。家の中に諸々の器物を並べ置くので狭くて、寝返りを打つ間隙もない。故にまた地下倉庫を造ろうとする。その時に、かの垣根の杭を岡の右側に支え広げ、家の後ろの山壁を穿って地下倉庫を作る。これを家の後門として外から家内に通じさせる。これが出入りの道である。諸々の器具の配置が初めて整然となる。○ここにおいて必要な諸々の器具を製作する。即ち椅子、机、案などである。机は書き物及び飲食する時の必需品だからである。○凡そ諸々の器物を造るのに鋸は用いにくい。ただ斧と槌によって造る。例えば一片の板を得ようとすれば、完全な材木を両側から削り鉋いで

中央の一片を取るのみ。故に一つの材木からただ一枚の板を得る。○破船から取って筏としていた板で椅子及び机や案を造る。また削った板で幅一尺五寸のものを室の一方に架け、諸々の器械や鉄器を置く。また壁に釘して大小の銃及び諸々の器具を掛ける。もし人にしてこの部屋を見せれば、必ず言うだろう「この部屋には必需品の諸具のみで、玩弄や嗜好の無駄なものは一つもない」と。○初め私が上陸した時、大量の潮水を吐き、衰弱が甚だしくて足を縮め手を組み、ぼんやりとしてついに地に臥したが、猛獣を恐れて眠らなかった。その後両日の間は山に登り、また破船に至ったため、いよいよ疲れを増した。しかしながら次第に元に復して壮健である。○また椅子、机、案など凡そ日用の具がことごとく備わって大いに便利を得た。
