第31日、早起きして大銃を携えて山に入り、一匹の牡羊とその子を獲た。
第11月第1日、筏を造った材料類を取って小屋を囲み、四方の壁に代えた。
第3日、また銃を持って出て二羽の鳥を獲た。その形状は鶴に似ていた。昼に料理して自分でご馳走になった。その味はとても美味であった。

第5日、犬を連れて出て狩りをする。一匹の山猫を獲た。肉は食べられない。その皮は柔軟である。およそ獲った獣の皮はすべて貯えて後日の用途を待つ。また浜に沿って行けば種々の海鳥がいる。また水牛に遇ったが、皆獲らなかった。
第6日、今朝机を造り終えた。
第7日、快晴。この日椅子を製作した。
第13日、雷雨。この時火薬が雷火に焼かれることを恐れて分けて所々に密かに蔵した。
