太閤御座を御たちあつて内に入らせ給ふ治部少輔
三成参て秀秋の老杉原下野守 山口玄蕃允に向ひ
大殿の御気色よからすまつ御館に帰し入参らせひるへし

うち刀とつて立徳川殿引とゝめ給ひとかく制して
彼館にともなひ給ひしに太閤の御使として尼孝蔵主
入来り仰をつたふ様さる頃蔚山の戦にかろ〳〵
しきふるまひし又たゝ今の申条甚寄軽の至也
すへからく早々筑前の国をかへし献て越前の地に
うつるへしとありけれは中納言大にいかつてやあ尼
前秀秋か身に 玉うはゝ同ゝれんつみ覚へす命あらんかき
りはたゝもｔもとのまゝにこそあるへけれすみやかにかうへ
をはねらるへう候と申せ尼前とておつかへさる徳川殿
孝蔵主に向ひ給ひ仰謹て承りぬと答ふとこそ
申さるへけれとありけれは尼前承て此うへは内府の
お御はからひにこそ候へけれ政所の御方へも其事を申
すへきにて候と申て罷出つ 徳川殿被秋にむかひ
給ひたゝとふもかくにも仰にしたかひ給はん事こそ
あらまほしけれ政所のなｋなけかせ給はんには太閤も

太閤は御座をお立ちになって奥にお入りになった。治部少輔三成が参上して、秀秋の老臣杉原下野守・山口玄蕃允に向かい「大殿の御機嫌がよろしくない。まず御館にお帰り申し上げるべきである」と言った。秀秋はこれを聞いて、奴めを討ち果たそうとする様子で刀を取って立ち上がった。徳川殿がお引き止めになり、あれこれとお制しして秀秋をその館にお連れになった。
そこに太閤の御使として尼孝蔵主が入って来て、仰せを伝える様子は次の通りであった。「先頃蔚山の戦いでの軽々しい振る舞い、また、ただ今の申し条は甚だしく軽率の至りである。すぐさま筑前の国を返し献上して、越前の地に移るべきである」とあった。すると中納言（秀秋）は大いに怒って「やあ尼前よ、秀秋のこの身に過ちがあるならば、すぐにでも命を取られるだろう。罪を覚えていない。命ある限りは、ただ元のままであるべきだ。すぐに首を跳ねられるがよろしい」と申した。尼前はそう言って帰って行った。
徳川殿は孝蔵主に向かって「『仰せを謹んで承りました』とお答えするとこそ申されるべきでしょう」とおっしゃった。尼前は承って「この上は内府のお計らいにこそございましょう。政所の御方へもその事を申すべきでございます」と申して退出した。徳川殿は秀秋に向かって「とにもかくにも仰せに従われることこそ望ましい。政所が嘆かせ給うようでは、太閤もそれほど心強くはいらっしゃらないものを」とおっしゃった。「それでは...」

The Taiko rose from his seat and withdrew into the inner chambers. Jibu-no-shō Mitsunari came forward and addressed Hideaki's retainers Sugihara Shimōtsuke-no-kami and Yamaguchi Gemba-no-jō, saying, "His lordship is not in good humor. You should first escort him back to his residence." Upon hearing this, Hideaki showed signs of wanting to strike down that fellow, taking up his sword and standing. Tokugawa-dono restrained him, calming him down in various ways and accompanying him to his residence.
There, the Taiko's messenger, the nun Kō Kuranosuke, arrived and conveyed the following message: "Your recent frivolous conduct at the Battle of Ulsan, and now your present statements, are extremely rash. You must immediately return and surrender Chikuzen Province and move to Echizen Province." The Chūnagon (Hideaki) became greatly enraged and said, "Hey, nun! Tokugawa-dono addressed Kō Kuranosuke, saying, "You should have replied, 'I humbly accept your command.'" The nun acknowledged this and said, "In this matter, it must be left to the Naidafu's discretion. I must also report this matter to the Mandokoro," and then withdrew.
