左衛門大夫源正則は尾張国の住人福島与左衛門尉某の嫡男で、初め豊臣太閤が播磨国の守護であった時、正則は幼少の頃より側近く召し使われた（正則は豊臣家にゆかりの人と言うが、詳しいことは分からない）。天正六年に播磨国三木城を攻められた際、正則は生年十八歳で初めて武功を立てた。それ以来、鳥取、山崎等の戦いに功なしということがなく、賤ヶ岳の先駆け七騎の七番目の第一として格別の恩賞を給わった。この年天正十一年十一月に叙爵して左衛門尉になされた（この戦の時、字は市松が一番に首を取って参り、五千石の地を給わったのである）。小牧、雑賀の軍に随い、同十三年の夏に四国が平定された後、伊予の地を給わって今治城を領した（十万石）。十五年に筑紫の陣に随い、十六年に肥後で

Saemon-no-dayū Minamoto no Masanori was the eldest son of a certain Fukushima Yozaemon-no-jō, a resident of Owari Province. Initially, when Toyotomi Taikō was the guardian of Harima Province, Masanori was employed as a close attendant from his childhood (it is said that Masanori was a person connected to the Toyotomi family, but the details are not known). In Tenshō 6, when Miki Castle in Harima Province was attacked, Masanori, then eighteen years old, distinguished himself in battle for the first time. From then on, there was no battle at Tottori, Yamazaki, and other places where he did not achieve merit, and as the first of the seventh among the seven vanguard riders at Shizugatake, he received special rewards.
