現代語訳
智仁勇の三徳と言う。この三徳へその金を入れて返すのがよい。
『木綿売買の事』

木綿一反、ただし二丈六尺あり、代銀十三匁に買い申し候時、一尺何ほどに当たるかという。答えて曰く、五分ずつに当たる。
法に二丈六尺は二十六である。十三匁は十三である。二十六を二つに割っても十三なれば、一尺は五分ずつである。これは暗算用でも知れることである。
また問う、木綿一反、鯨尺にて二丈七尺五寸有り、この代九匁七分である。これを曲尺にて八尺三寸取れば代はいくらかという。答えて曰く、それは呉服屋の売り上げにて見るべし。

欲心が微塵 《割書：倹約を守りても邪欲を構えては微塵也ということ也》
忠信が肝心 《割書：忠信とは私の心なきをいう。これ肝心の事也》

These are called the three virtues of wisdom, benevolence, and courage. It is best to invest that money in these three virtues and get returns.

Cotton one tan, specifically two jō six shaku, when bought for thirteen momme of silver, how much per one shaku? The answer is: it comes to five bu each.
By the method, two jō six shaku equals twenty-six. Thirteen momme equals thirteen. Even if you divide twenty-six by two, it's thirteen, so one shaku is five bu each. This can be known even by mental calculation.
Another question: cotton one tan measures two jō seven shaku five sun by whale measure, priced at nine momme seven bu. If this is measured as eight shaku three sun by bent measure, what is the price? The answer is: that should be seen by the draper's sales method.
