今般被 仰出之趣茂有之荘屋
名主年寄大荘屋等之名儀都而
被廃更ニ戸長副戸長と改称被
仰付候就而は従前戸長副戸長
名主組頭年寄百姓代役場ニ而
取扱来候事務は勿論土地人
民ニ関係之事件は一切取扱

御請証文の件
この度仰せ出されました趣旨もあり、庄屋・
名主・年寄・大庄屋等の名称は全て
廃止され、新たに戸長・副戸長と改称するよう
仰せ付けられました。ついては従来戸長・副戸長・
名主・組頭・年寄・百姓代が役場において
取り扱ってまいりました事務はもちろん、土地・人
民に関係する事件は一切取り扱い

Regarding the Written Pledge
In accordance with the proclamation recently issued,
the titles of village headman (shōya), village chief (nanushi),
village elder (toshiyori), head village magistrate (ōshōya), etc.
shall all be abolished and newly renamed as
village headman (kochō) and deputy village headman (fuku-kochō).
Accordingly, all administrative duties that have previously been
handled at the village office by village headmen, deputy village headmen,
village chiefs, group leaders, village elders, and peasant representatives,
as well as all matters relating to land and
people, shall be handled [by the new officials]
