地方御名主様江斗願出候処
早俄々敷御沙汰茂不被下候故
何卒町御支配様へ願呉候
様押而相頼候へ共地処之義ニハ

多平治差留願呉不申候而
又候地方御名主様江願出候処
四五日相待可申談事之上沙
汰ニ及可申与被仰于今御下
知無御座候罷過候其故伊七
彦右衛門不通不和ニ而罷在候
尤栗之木ハ枯候故取方付
申候得共何卒厚以御慈悲
御吟味之上此地処茂右通
被仰付被下置候而彦右衛門此
地江積置候雑具外方付
伊七方ニ而先年通自由相成
申候様被仰付被下置候ハヽ
冥加至極難有仕合奉存候
現代語訳
町ご支配様へ願い出る筋合いではないと申し、
地方ご名主様へのみ願い出ましたところ、
早急な御沙汰もいただけませんので、
何卒町ご支配様へ願い出てくれるよう
押して相談いたしましたが、地所のことには
町ご支配様へ願い出る謂れはないと
多平治が差し止め、願い出てくれません。
また地方ご名主様へ願い出ましたところ、
四五日お待ちください、相談した上で沙汰に
及びますと仰せられましたが、今に至るまでお下
知もございません。そのため伊七と
彦右衛門は不通不和のままでおります。
もっとも栗の木は枯れましたので片付け
ましたが、何卒厚いご慈悲をもって
ご吟味の上、この地所も右の通り
仰せ付けくださいまして、彦右衛門がこの
地へ積み置いております雑具を他所へ片付け、
伊七方で先年通り自由になるよう
仰せ付けくださいましたら、
冥加至極ありがたい仕合せと存じます。
英語訳
They said there was no proper channel to petition the town magistrate,
so we petitioned only the local headman.
However, we received no prompt ruling,
so I persistently requested that they petition the town magistrate,
but Taheiji refused, saying there was no precedent
for petitioning the town magistrate regarding land matters,
and would not submit the petition.
When we again petitioned the local headman,
he said "Please wait four or five days, we will deliberate
and then issue a ruling," but to this day
we have received no notification. As a result, Ishichi and
Hikozaemon remain estranged and in discord.
The chestnut trees have withered and been removed,
but I humbly request that through your great mercy
and upon investigation, you rule on this land matter
as stated above, order Hikozaemon to remove
the miscellaneous items he has stored on this land elsewhere,
and decree that Ishichi's side may freely use it
as in previous years.
This would be an extremely blessed and grateful outcome.
