差図枝卸為致候趣内々彼等より
申含相頼候与相見得無闇ニ伐取
間其枝伐候而ハ不宜候間其儘被
御差置可被下様弥市申候得ハ
此枝不伐取ハ邪魔ニ相成与申伐
又候其枝ハ不切ニ置呉六候様申候
得ハ不聞得振ニ而伐払南江出候
一之枝ヲ残弐間斗上り枯木無之
伐境ニ細キ此さほへ弐本其枝ハ

表役の職人たちと落ち合って、弥市へは
木伐りの職人を頼みに参りますので急いで出張
するようにと、弥治右衛門方より使いが来ましたが、自
分へは相談もかけず勝手な取り扱い
だとは思いながらも出向いたところ、弥治右衛門、太平治、
彦右衛門並びにその息子たちが出向いて、善作様へ指
図させ、枝下ろしをさせる趣旨を内々に彼らから
申し含めて頼んだと見受けられ、むやみに伐採
する間、その枝を伐るのはよろしくないので、そのまま
お差し置きくださるよう弥市が申しましたところ、
この枝を伐らなければ邪魔になると言って伐り
ました。その枝は切らずに置いてくれるよう申しました
が、聞こえない振りをして伐り払い、南へ出ている
一の枝を残し、二間ほど上がって枯木はなく、
伐る境に細いひさしへ二本、その枝は
そのまま置いてくださるようと申しても、すでに
伐り取る様子に見受けられましたので、その
枝を伐れば、この木は枯れるので無用だと
遮って差し止めましたところ、彦右衛門が弥市に

They met with the surface officials' craftsmen, and a messenger came from Yajiuemon's side saying that since they were going to request tree-cutting craftsmen for Yaichi, he should hurry and make an emergency trip. Although I thought this was arbitrary handling without consulting me, I went anyway. There, Yajiuemon, Taheiji, Hikouemon, and their sons had come out and apparently had Zensaku-sama give instructions. It appeared they had secretly asked him to have the branches cut down, telling him this beforehand. During the indiscriminate cutting, Yaichi said that cutting those branches would not be proper, so please leave them as they are. However, they said if these branches were not cut they would be in the way, and cut them anyway. Although he asked them not to cut those branches and leave them be, they pretended not to hear and cut them away. They left one branch extending to the south, and about two ken up where there were no dead trees, at the cutting boundary there were two thin eaves branches, and even though he asked that those branches be left as they were, it appeared they were already going to cut them. So when he blocked them, saying that if those branches were cut, this tree would die and become useless, Hikouemon said to Yaichi:
