向贔屓口致候而ハ不宜敷与

現代語訳
ひいきをするような口を利くのはよろしくないと
申し、しりをまくって雑言を申しました。このような大木に
一の枝一本、二間ほど上の細いさほへ
二本を差し置き、残らず伐り取って邪魔にも
ならない枝の出具合で、左右になるわずかな薮
まで伐り払い申しました。お沙汰の趣旨は大枝
の分を伐り取るべしと私へは申し渡されましたが、大
枝はもちろん小枝も残らず伐り払った始末は
不埒極まりないと存じます。ことに枝葉の
件は役人へお預けになっているほどのことでございます
ので、訴答ともに立ち会うことは恐れ多いことにも
なることと存じ、伊七の家内の者まで
その場に立ち出ることはせず控えておりましたのに、表役
の者と同様に彦右衛門並びにその息子が出て
来て指図し、思うままに伐り取らせた次第は
全く依怙贔屓の取り扱いで、かつはお沙汰筋をも
恐れず、役意をも弁えない取り扱いで不
束なことと存じます。ことさら彦右衛門の
宅において職人や表役の者が寄り
集まって飲食したのは不埒なことと存じます。
英語訳
"It is not proper to speak in such a biased manner," he said, and then he lifted his buttocks and spoke abusively.
