弥市多平治弥平治三人立入
右之地処何時成共伊七方ニ而
入用之節相返可申候間貸入遣し
呉候様明廿七ニ茂御入用ニハヽ為
取方付相返可申与申達而三人
致無心候間右三人江貸置候処
此度右之地入用之儀御座候間
三人江返呉候様度々致催足候
現代語訳
「それまでは何とぞこのまま差し置いて貸してくれるよう」しきりに頼まれたので貸し遣わしたところ、
工事が完成すると、その上の通りへ土留めを
して草木を植え付けたので、約束とは次第に
違った事になり掛け合ったところ、前述の
無心とは思いがけなく事情が変わって「こちらの地
所へ草木を植え付けるのは余計な世話だ」と
悪口を申したので、彦右衛門と伊七が掴み合い
の喧嘩になったところ、村の者たちが
引き分けてその場は退きましたが、双方不和の
まま過ごしていたところ、十三年前の八月十七日、
弥市、多平治、弥平治の三人が仲裁に入り、
右の地所は「いつでも伊七方で
入用の節にはお返しします」ので貸し入れ遣わして
くれるよう、「明日二十七日にもご入用でしたら
取り方を付けてお返しします」と申して、しきりに三人が
無心したので、右の三人へ貸し置いたところ、
この度右の地が入用の事がございますので、
三人へ返してくれるよう度々催促しました

"Please leave it as it is for now and lend it to us," they earnestly requested, so I lent it to them.
When the construction was completed, they built an embankment on the road above
and planted vegetation, which gradually went against
our agreement. When I confronted them about this, contrary to the previous
request, the situation had unexpectedly changed and they said "It's none of your business
to plant vegetation on our land" and spoke ill of us,
so Hikozaemon and Ishichi got into a physical
fight. The villagers
separated them and they withdrew from the scene, but both parties remained on bad terms.
Then, thirteen years ago on August 17th,
Yaichi, Taheiji, and Yaheiji - these three men - intervened as mediators.
Regarding the aforementioned land, they said "We will return it whenever Ishichi's side
needs it," so please lend it to them,
and "Even tomorrow on the 27th, if you need it, we will
arrange to return it." The three men earnestly
made this request, so I lent it to those three men.
Now, as I have need for that land,
I have repeatedly urged the three men to return it.
