【本文】
五体の口は利くもので、ある日貴人への使者の役を言いつけられた。本来なら馬に乗って行くべきところなのを、我が道行きは立て板に水を流すごとく早いので、徒歩で参ろうと言って、すぐに立ち出た。折しも降り続く長雨で道はぬかるんで歩けないのを、無理やりに急いで行ったので、あまりに急いだために険しい敷石の際で口は滑って真っ逆さまに転んだので、主人への口上も何もできず、大いに赤面する。取次に出た人も気の毒がる。

【Main Text】
The mouth of the five body parts is quite capable. One day, he was assigned the role of messenger to a noble. While he should have gone on horseback, he said that his way of traveling is as swift as water flowing down a smooth board, so he would go on foot, and immediately set out. It happened to be during continuous long rains, and the road was muddy and impassable, but he forced himself to hurry along. Because he rushed too much, at the edge of a steep stone pavement, his mouth slipped and he fell headfirst. Unable to deliver his master's message or do anything, he was greatly embarrassed. The person who came out to receive him also felt sorry for him.
