ここにまた学者眼鏡とて、その功能といえば、全く無学な人でも四角な字（漢字）がさらさらと読める。この製作の仕方は、四書の字引、五経の字引、通俗物なら文林節用、またはいろは印、玉篇、千字文などを清水でよく洗い、手垢をさっぱりと落として仕舞い、五月端午の夜、朝露に合わせ、それを細末して眼鏡へ入れたものなれば、昨日まで「大学」の「大」の字も読めなかった者でも。
