それから段々と儲けて、その上、寛応寺の富くじの一等札を取り、また第六天の突き止めを取ったので、たちまち表店を張り、眼鏡商売をして暮らすようになった。しかし人並みの駒形の眼鏡屋や神明前の眼鏡屋程度では商売にならないと工夫をなし、遠眼鏡をひっくり返して普段の眼鏡と称して売ったところ、格別に（評判になった）
