飯（めし）。めし。いい。はん。まんま
▲命司（めいし）【左ルビ：いのちつかさ】《割書：めいしをつめてめしいのちをつかさどるの宝（たから）なるゆへ｜めしなるべし》
まんまはまゝなるべしすべて物（もの）をつぐをまゝといふいのちを
つぐまた母（はゝ）の無（な）き子（こ）後（のち）の母（はゝ）をたのみ育（そだつ）をまゝ母（はゝ）といふ
も子（こ）の命（いのち）をつぐゆへにまゝはゝなるべし
▲意根（いね） 世根（よね） 何れも米（こめ）の名（な）いのちの根（ね）なり
▲汁（しる） しるはつけなるべしめしのかたはらに付（つけ）て食（くら）ふ

嘘なるべし巻之上 江戸木屑庵述
飯（めし）。めし。いい。はん。まんま
▲命司（めいし）【左ルビ：いのちつかさ】《割書：めいしを詰めて飯は命を司る宝であるから、飯なるべし》
まんまは「まま」なるべし。すべて物を継ぐことを「まま」という。命を継ぐ、また母のない子が後の母を頼み育つのを継母というのも、子の命を継ぐからで、継母なるべし。
▲稲（いね） 米（よね） いずれも米の名。命の根である。
▲汁（しる） 汁は「つけ」なるべし。飯の傍らに付けて食らう。

▲Life-administrator (meishi) [ruby: inochi-tsukasa] 《Interlinear note: Filling with meishi, rice is a treasure that governs life, therefore it must be rice (meshi)》
Manma must be "mama" (stepmother/continuation). All things that continue something are called "mama." Continuing life, and when a motherless child relies on and is raised by a later mother called stepmother, it is also because she continues the child's life, therefore it must be stepmother.
▲Rice plant (ine) Rice (yone) Both are names for rice. They are the root of life.
▲Soup (shiru) Soup must be "tsuke" (accompaniment). It is attached beside rice to be eaten.
