初太郎一人を端船に乗せて何処かへ連れて行き、私一人が船に残りました。およそ三十日程この島に停泊し、日々船の損傷箇所を修繕する手伝いをしていました。二月下旬頃、端船に乗せられ、水主のような者一人が乗り組んで、およそ一里程行って海岸に上陸しました。この所は唐国の内の広東澳門（カントン・マカオ）という所だと聞きました。
一、その十一月下旬にアメリカの地を出帆してから、翌卯年二月下旬に唐国の内の広東澳門に到着するまで、およそ日数九十日程も船中にいました。
一、その澳門の海岸に上陸し、水主のような者が同道して、浜手から人家が続いておよそ三千軒程もある町のような所を五町程連れて行かれました。

間口八間、奥行五間程の家に入りました。そこは船問屋のように見える店のような所で、茶を入れる籠や箱、または更紗類、毛織などの反物が多数積み置いてありました。人の姿や着服は外国人と同様の者もいれば、また唐人と見える者もいました。頭は坊主で、頭に少し髪を残し三つ折りにして後ろに下げ、または髪を巻き立てている者もいました。【被り物の図】図のような物を被り、口髭を長くし、着物は絹や毛綿などの筒袖の大きな物や、股引の緩いような物を着て、靴を履いていました。外国人とは人の姿や着服などが違っていました。

Hatsutaro alone was taken somewhere by small boat, while I remained on the ship by myself. We stayed anchored at this island for about thirty days, and daily I helped repair the damaged parts of the ship. Around late February, I was put on a small boat with one sailor-like person, traveled about one ri, and landed on the coast. I was told this place was called Kanton Ōmon (Canton Macau) within the Tang country (China).
One: From our departure from America in late November until our arrival at Kanton Ōmon in the Tang country in late February of the following Rabbit year, we were aboard ship for approximately ninety days.
One: After landing on the coast of Ōmon, accompanied by the sailor-like person, I was led from the waterfront through a town-like area with continuous houses numbering about 3,000 for about five chō.

We entered a house about eight ken wide and five ken deep. It appeared to be a ship merchant's store-like establishment with many baskets and boxes for tea, as well as bolts of chintz, woolen cloth and other textiles stocked up. Among the people, some had the appearance and clothing similar to foreigners, while others appeared to be Chinese. Their heads were shaven like monks, with a little hair left on top folded in three and hanging down the back, or some had their hair wound up. They wore hat-like objects as shown in the diagram, had long mustaches, and wore loose-fitting garments of silk and wool with wide sleeves, and loose trouser-like clothing, with shoes on their feet. Their appearance and clothing differed from the foreigners.
