のような者が一人付いておりました。もっとも一間に四尺程の白麻の蚊帳一張《割書：仕立ては日本の通りです》を貸してくれ、夜分は用いました。食物は日々三度ずつ米の飯に魚類等を給してくれました。この家の奥の間に役人のような唐人が二三人おり、着服は紋呉絽で赤い糸が付いた帽子をかぶっているのを見受けました。この所では構内を歩行させてくれましたが、外へは出してくれませんでした。
一 この所に逗留中にマラリアを患ったところ、医師のような者が参り、脈診をしてくれ、煎じ薬を用いて三十日程世話になり快気しました。
一 この所に六月上旬の頃から逗留していましたが、九月上旬の頃

役人のような唐人が駕籠を持参して外へ送ってくれる趣で仕度をし、同日夕方その駕籠に乗せ《割書：駕籠は前段と同様です》役人のような者が付き添い、町筋を十町程参り駕籠から出たところ、川端に七十石積程の船一艘が繋留してあり、帆柱一本で木綿の茶染めの帆をかけてありました。その船に乗ったところ、船頭のような者一人、水主のような者三人がおり、直ちに出帆し、川筋およそ一町程《割書：この川幅はおよそ六七間です》漕いで参り、海に出て北の方へ三日程航海し、山陰へ乗り入れ、唐国の内の乍浦という所へ着岸しました。

In the inner room of this house, I observed two or three Chinese official-like persons wearing patterned silk gauze clothing with red thread attached and wearing caps. At this place, I was allowed to walk within the compound, but was not permitted to go outside.
- While staying at this place, I suffered from malaria. A doctor-like person came, took my pulse, and treated me with herbal medicine. I was cared for about thirty days and recovered.

A Chinese official-like person brought a palanquin to escort me outside, making preparations. That same evening, they had me board the palanquin 《Marginal note: The palanquin was the same as before》 with an official-like person accompanying me. We traveled about ten chō along the town streets, and when I got out of the palanquin, there was a boat of about seventy koku capacity moored at the riverbank, with one mast and a tea-dyed cotton sail. When I boarded this boat, there was one captain-like person and three sailor-like persons. We immediately set sail, rowed about one chō along the river 《Marginal note: This river was about six to seven ken wide》, went out to sea, sailed north for about three days, entered a mountain inlet, and landed at a place called Zhapu in China.
