一此處ニ而板本すり居候を見受申候尤横文字ニ而
一字ツヽ鋳懸候印を組合せすり立候様ニ見受申候
一都而「アメリカ之地にて宮寺無之佛法神社抔之儀者
無御座候趣相見江申候
一高山者余り見受不申候都而山者形チのつとりと

真珠があり、その貝に真珠が入ったまま、私が滞在していた宿の床の間のような所に幾つも並べてあるのを見ました。
一、この場所で版本（印刷物）を刷っているのを見ました。横文字で一字ずつ鋳造した活字を組み合わせて刷り上げている様子に見えました。
一、すべて「アメリカの地では宮や寺が無く、仏法や神社などのことは無いようです。
一、高い山はあまり見かけません。すべて山は形が丸くなだらかな様子に見えます。
一、「アメリカに滞在中、二百日ほどの間に雨は一度しか降りませんでした。

そこで尋ねた所、一年に二度ほどしか雨は降らないと聞きました。
一、「アメリカの地は非常に暖かい国で、四月並びに九月・十月頃は日本の六・七月頃に当たり、五・六・七・八月のこの四か月は非常に暑く、日中に砂の上を革靴で歩いても足の裏が熱くなります。なお笠は絹で張った日傘のような物を使います。なお外で働く者は朝夕だけで、日中は外に出ません。
