「メヒコと申候而国主之名者「ベレシテンテと申候由

都而「アメリカ之地ハ金者少ク候得共銀者殊の外沢山

引込外之「コツブニ而給させ申候尤此地ニ而も「コツブと申候

「メヒコ（メキシコ）と申しまして、国主の名前は「ベレシテンテ（プレジデンテ）と申すとのことです。
一、この所で、耳の長い馬十四頭に銀を入れた箱を付け、役人のような者が鍵を持たせて付き添いで、私が滞在している家へ持ち込んでくるのを見ました。すべて「アメリカの地は金は少ないですが、銀は特別に沢山あって、窓の類などにも銀細工の物を多分に使用しています。全体的に人柄が良く、ゆったりと暮らしている様子に見受けられました。
一、「アメリカで通用している銀貨は、重さ七、八匁で大きさは一寸五分位、図のように縁回りや裏に横文字、真ん中に獣の頭などの鋳型があり、日雇い働きの者に一日分として一つずつ渡しています。私も右の銀子を少々もらいました。

一、この所の「コマンダンテからもてなしを受けた際、最初にガラスの「コップに酒を入れて飲むよう言われたので手に取ったところ、私の顔を眺めて笑っている様子だったので不審に思い、その「コップを少し傾けて試したところ酒が出てきません。さらに逆さまにしても一向に出てこないので、細工物だと思い脇に置いたところ、日本にもこのような品があるかと尋ねられたので、あると答えたところ、そのまま引っ込めて別の「コップで飲ませてくれました。なおこの地でも「コップと申します。
一、この所で「イギリスの軍船を見ました。船の形は外国はいずれも同じ作りで、その軍船は三本の帆柱があり、非常に大きな船で、船の両方に大筒の先を五、六寸ずつ出し掛けており、なお左右とも二段にしてあります。
