一、その場所に二日間滞在していたところ、水夫のような者六人《割書：人体・着服は前同様外国人》が同様に参り、私ども七人を最初に上陸した浜辺（サンルカス）へ連れて参りました。そこには長さ五間、横一間半程の船がありました《割書：この船の形は前段同様、ただし帆柱は一本、帆は白木綿でございます》。その船に乗せられ、すぐに出帆し、二日の間昼夜東の方へ航行したところ、前段の浜辺と地続きと見える浜辺へ同じく上陸いたしました。そこで見物するような外国人十人ほどが集まっており、前段の二軒の家の主人のような者が馬に乗って、外に馬十匹ほどを引き連れて

この場所へやって来ておりました《割書：馬は日本の馬と同様でございます。すべてこの場所は馬がたくさんいるように見え、大体の家では飼っております》。私ども七人を馬に乗せ、およそ十七町ほど参ったところ、人家五十軒程もある村の入口の家へ連れて参りました《割書：この家は間口五間、奥行三間程で、家造りの様子は前段の二軒家と同様でございます》。この家に、前段の外国船に残っていた六人のうち、七太郎、万蔵がおりましたので、どうしてこの所に参ったのかと尋ねたところ、外国人どもが船中の使い水に困り、この所へ水汲みに上がった際、両人を上げ置いたとのことを承り、残り四人のことを尋ねたところ、分からないと申しており、都合九人になりました。

After staying at that place for two days, six sailors (Marginal note: Their physique and clothing were the same as before—foreigners) came similarly and took us seven to the beach (San Lucas) where we had first landed. There was a boat about five ken long and one and a half ken wide (Marginal note: The shape of this boat was the same as before, but it had one mast and white cotton sails). We were put aboard and immediately set sail. After sailing eastward day and night for two days, we landed on a beach that appeared to be connected to the previous beach. There, about ten foreigners gathered as if to observe us, and the master of the aforementioned two houses came on horseback, leading about ten other horses

to this place (Marginal note: The horses were the same as Japanese horses. This entire place seemed to have many horses, and most houses kept them). They put us seven on horses and after traveling about seventeen cho, we were brought to a house at the entrance of a village with about fifty houses (Marginal note: This house had a frontage of five ken and depth of three ken, and its construction was similar to the aforementioned two houses). In this house were Shichitaro and Manzo, two of the six who had remained on the foreign ship. When we asked how they came to be at this place, we learned that the foreigners, running short of drinking water on the ship, had come ashore here to fetch water and had brought these two men ashore at that time. When we asked about the remaining four, they said they didn't know, making a total of nine of us.
