汝の誠心に愛願を叶へ得さすへし
爰に陸奥に仙人在常一つの瓢
を持海を渡る時は瓢をはらまきと
なし如何なる波濤をも恙なく凌き
陸にある時は瓢の中より駒を出し
て打乗心の侭に飛行し此頃南海
を廻り本国に帰れり依て人みな
南瓢道人と呼今幸都近き北白川

招かん懇に異国の風土を尋へしと
宣ひ失給ふとおもヘは忽然として
白髪の老人瓢を持て出現し給へは
敬しく傍に手をつきて事の
次第を尋ける道人微笑をなし
物語をそ始め給ひける抑四年已前
頃は八月廿日余りの事なるに我か

なして、いかなる波濤をも無事に乗り越え、
陸にある時は瓢箪の中から馬を出して
それに乗り、心のままに飛行する。このころ南海を
巡って本国に帰ってきた。そのため人はみな
南瓢道人と呼んでいる。今幸い都近くの北白川

"Moved by your sincere heart, I shall grant your wish.
Here in Mutsu there is a hermit who always carries a single gourd.
When crossing the sea, he makes the gourd into a belly-band
and safely rides over any waves or billows.
When on land, he brings forth a horse from within the gourd
and mounting it, flies at will. Recently he has
traveled around the southern seas and returned to his homeland. Therefore everyone
calls him the Southern Gourd Sage. Now fortunately he is in Kitashirakawa
