説法の文句である。梅庵は釈迦の経文を用いるのか」と言って扇で梅庵の頭を散々に打ち叩いた。梅庵は一言も答えることなく、ただ口の中でつぶやいて栢翁の手を振り払い、ようやく座を立って逃げ帰ったので、座中の人々は同音にどっと笑った。母は大いに喜んで栢翁居士に謝礼したところ、栢翁は言った。「彼が経文をもって言うなら経文をもって答えようと思うところ、梅庵は経文を離れて説法するので、今日の法論は甚だ心安い法論であって、心を用いる場がない。多分新宗の法論はあれまでのことであろう。それならば、ただ金銀財宝を人に施して宗門に帰伏させようとする。これは甚だ怪しい宗門でございます」と言って老母に会釈して帰った。
