ルカン両破天連ケリコリヤリイス両イルマン
ノ計策等コレヲ載ト雖トモ日本ニテ見聞スル処
ハ可執之彼国ノ書モ伝ラス其国ノ談事何等ノ
口伝ヲ以テ書載タルヤ最モ不脱無疑故ニ発端
ヲ除テ此書ニ載セス
此書所謂南蛮切支丹国ノ地理ハ西川如見先生
ノ説ニ依テ書載スル所ナリ
今渾地ノ図ヲ以テ見ル所亜細欧邏巴利未亜亜
墨利加墨瓦臘尼此五大州ヲ以俗ノ所謂世界ト
ス彼書ニ載スル所ノコウシンヒト云国四十二
州有テ日本等ノ類ニ非ス大国ナリト記トイヘ
トモ此五大州ノ中ニ見ヘス怪ムヘキナリ故ニ是
等ノ類ヲ省略ス爰ニ於テ暫ク表題ヲ改テ南蛮

現代語訳
ルカン両破天連、ケリコリヤ、リイス両イルマンの計策等をこれに載せているとはいえ、日本にて見聞するところでは信用し難く、彼の国の書物も伝わらず、その国の談話をいかなる口伝をもって書き載せたのか、最も疑わしく間違いなく不確実である。故に冒頭部分を除いてこの書には載せない。
この書のいわゆる南蛮キリシタン国の地理は、西川如見先生の説に依って書き載せるところである。
今、世界地図をもって見るところ、アジア、ヨーロッパ、アフリカ、アメリカ、オセアニア、この五大州をもって俗にいうところの世界とする。彼の書に載せるところのコウシンビという国は四十二州を有して日本等の類ではなく大国であると記しているけれども、この五大州の中に見えず、怪しむべきである。故にこれ等の類を省略する。ここにおいて暫く表題を改めて『南蛮寺興廃記』と号するものである。

Although it records the schemes of the two padres Rukan and others, and the two irmãos Kerikori and Riisu, what we observe and hear in Japan makes these accounts unreliable. No books from that country have been transmitted, and it is most questionable and undoubtedly unreliable what kind of oral tradition was used to record the stories of that country. Therefore, I exclude the opening section and do not include it in this book.
The geography of the so-called Southern Barbarian Christian countries in this book is written based on the theories of Master Nishikawa Joken.
Looking at current world maps, we see Asia, Europe, Africa, America, and Oceania—these five great continents constitute what is commonly called the world. The book records that the country called Kōshinbi has forty-two provinces and is a great nation, unlike Japan and similar countries, but it does not appear among these five great continents, which is suspicious. Therefore, I omit such matters. Here I temporarily change the title and call it "Record of the Rise and Fall of the Nanban Temple."
