When [Lucifer] saw this and desired to usurp the position of the Lord of Heaven, gathering various anjos (angels) into his faction, the Lord of Heaven arose in righteous anger and banished Lucifer to the lower world, creating a great fire pit and placing him in these flames. This was named Inferno, which is translated as Hell. Thereupon Lucifer said, "I wish to share the same suffering with the couple Adam [and Eve]." He then transformed his own body into a tengu and went to Terrestrial (Paradise), saying to Eve: "Why do you not eat the fruit of Maçã (the tree of knowledge of good and evil)?"
