ヲ改テ南蛮寺ト号ス則江州甲賀郡ニテ五百石

ヨリ里程八百里ニテ殊ニ日本ヨリ南ニ当リイ

現代語訳

強訴の件が延引すれば、また神輿などを担いで来るであろうし、それは京都の騒動となるだろう。早く信長へ命令を下されるべきである」ということで、花山院中納言広政を通して山門の奏状の趣旨を信長へ命じられた。信長は不快であったが、勅命に従って永禄寺を改めて南蛮寺と号した。そして近江国甲賀郡にて五百石の地を寄進された。寺の建築構造や装飾の荘厳さは目を見張るものであった。

またオルガンティーノ一人では布教活動が力不足であるので、本国より数人を召び寄せよと命じられた。オルガンティーノは喜んで本国へ申し送った。

そもそも南蛮キリシタン国というのは、国名をイスパニア並びにポルトガル、カスティーリャという。海上で日本からの里程は一万二千余里で、世界地図で見ると、中国・日本より西方に当たる国である。しかし南蛮と号するのは、この国の従属地であるマカオ港やルソン等が日本の南方に当たるため、南蛮と号するのであろうか。アマカワ（マカオ）、ルソン等は日本より里程八百里で、特に日本より南に当たり、イスパニアの隣国でもないが、その国の従属地である。

マカオやルソン等は守護もない島であるため、南蛮人がしばしばその島に船を停泊させ、今は南蛮人が多く往来居住するため、類属の国であると言われている。イスパニアの隣国にイングランドという国がある《割注：アングリア、イングランドとも言う》。

Moreover, since Organtino alone was insufficient for missionary work, he was ordered to summon several people from his home country. Organtino was delighted and sent word to his homeland.

Now, the Southern Barbarian Christian countries are called by the country names España (Spain), along with Portugal and Castilla. The distance by sea from Japan is over 12,000 ri, and when viewed on a world map, they are countries located to the west of China and Japan. However, the reason they are called "Southern Barbarians" may be because the dependencies of these countries—such as Macau port and Luzon—are located to the south of Japan, hence the designation "Southern Barbarians." Macau, Luzon, etc. are 800 ri from Japan and are particularly south of Japan. They are not neighboring countries of Spain but are dependencies of that country.

Since Macau, Luzon, and others are islands without governors, Southern Barbarian people often anchor their ships at those islands, and now many Southern Barbarian people travel to and reside there, so they are said to be affiliated countries. There is a country called England neighboring Spain {{marginal note: also called Anglia or Inglaterra}}.
