たやすからす其うへ中頃より唐土のすく
かよひ馴つゝやかて其國の制にさへならひて
冠（くわん）服（ふく）なども其國風にしたかひたれはいよ〳〵
さるかたに見なされてかの紅（をらん）毛（だ）伊（い）藝（ぎ）理（り）須（す）
なといふらむあらぬ境のものゝ類（たぐい）とさへは人
みなおもふなるへし扨此國人来朝の

来らさりしにや何の書にも見えさめるを
後（ご）光（くわう）明（めい）天（てん）皇（わう）の御宇慶安二年に再（ふたゝ）ひ来朝
せしより已来毎度に及へり此たび亦／国（こく）王（わう）
即（そく）位（い）恩（おん）謝（しや）のため正（せい）副（ふく）二人の仗を奉る事

容易ではない。その上、中頃より中国との
交流に慣れ親しみ、やがてその国の制度にさえ従って
冠服などもその国風に従ったので、いよいよ
そのような方面（中国的）に見なされて、あの紅毛（オランダ）・イギリス
などという全く異なる境界の者たちの類とさえ人々は
皆思うようになったのだろう。さて、この国の人々の来朝の
ことは古く『続日本記』にも見えているが、その後しばらくは
来なかったのであろうか、どの書物にも見えないのを、
後光明天皇の御代の慶安二年に再び来朝
してより以来、毎度に及んでいる。この度もまた国王
即位恩謝のため、正使・副使二人の使節を奉る事
があるにつき、行装の概要を記し、版木に

is not easy. Moreover, from the middle period onward, they became
accustomed to intercourse with China, and eventually even followed
that country's institutions, adopting caps and clothing
in accordance with that country's customs, so they came to be seen increasingly
in that manner (as Chinese-like), to the extent that people
probably all came to think of them as being in the same category as those from completely foreign lands
such as the Dutch (Red Hair) and English.
Now, regarding the visits of people from this country to the imperial court,
these appear in the ancient "Shoku Nihongi" (Chronicles of Japan Continued), but afterwards they apparently
did not come for a while, as they do not appear in any writings until
they came again to court in the second year of Keian (1649) during the reign of Emperor Go-Kōmyō.
Since then, they have come repeatedly. This time as well, the king
is sending an embassy of two men, a chief envoy and vice-envoy,
to express gratitude for his investiture, and regarding this,
I record the outline of their procession and commit it to print
