なべ 茶椀
右のごとくにして記臆（きおく）せりといふ。皆々（みな〳〵）大に絶倒（せつとふ）す。
これ。一二三の次第は。頂（いたゝき）の次は額（ひたい）。ひたいの次（つき）は目。
目の次は鼻（はな）といふ。ならびを以て知なり。其ならび
を。下よりかぞふれば。へそに茶椀（ちやわん）は十番目。腹（はら）に
鍋（なべ）は九番目などゝ。さるさまにも知るなり。およそ
箇条（かでう）の次第あるものは。いづれも是に準（なそらへ）知（しる）すべし。

又物数おほく。二十品もあらば。左辺のたねを
用（もち）ひて。左（ひたり）の鬢（びん）を。第一とすべし。卅品ならば。
右辺の種（たね）を用ゆべし。又 手拭（てのこひ）を頂（いたゝき）に置と
たとへ。火鉢（ひはち）に額（ひたい）とたとふる類は。その人々の
心中にての臆符（おくふ）なれば。たゞ。いかやう成とも。
おぼへよき様に。たとふるを肝要（かんやう）とす
心法
その箇條（かてう）の。色々（いろ〳〵）品々（しな〳〵）を。他（た）の人に言（い）はせ。我（われ）は

このようにして記憶したという。皆々大いに感心して笑い転げた。
これは、一二三の順序は、頭頂部の次は額、額の次は目、
目の次は鼻という、順序に従って知ることである。その順序を
下から数えれば、臍の茶椀は十番目、腹の
鍋は九番目などと、そのような方法でも知ることができる。おおよそ
項目に順序があるものは、いずれもこれに準じて知ることができる。

また物の数が多く、二十品もあるなら、左側の種を
用いて、左の鬢を第一とすべきである。三十品なら、
右側の種を用いるべきである。また手拭いを頭頂部に置くと
例え、火鉢を額に例えるような類は、その人々の
心の中での記憶の符号なので、ただ、どのような形でも、
覚えやすいように例えるのが肝要である。
