現代語訳
来作最後の物語に、「足利の衆の名剣二振りとも千年盗み取っており、おりやう丸は三好長慶が方へ遣わし、めりやう丸は我が所持していたが、このごろ抱えていた猿の介という者が盗み取って行方知れず。また忍び伝授の一巻は友市という者が奪い取って逃げ去った。これも詮議してその身の重宝にせられよ」と言い捨てて虚しくなった。
かかるところに来作の手下の者どもが駆せ集まり、「親方の仇やらじ」と与六に切ってかかる。与六は多勢を事ともせず、投げ付け打ち付け争った。お杣が人々を制してだんだんの様子を語ったため、手下の者どもも納得して、これより皆々与六の手下となり、主従の契約をした。

In Raisaku's final words, he said: "I have stolen both famous swords of the Ashikaga clan for a thousand years. I sent Oryamaru to Miyoshi Chokei's side, and I had Meryamaru in my possession, but recently a man called Saru-no-suke whom I employed stole it and disappeared without a trace. Also, a man called Tomoichi seized and fled with a scroll of secret ninja techniques. You should investigate these matters and make them your treasures." Having said this, he died.
At that moment, Raisaku's subordinates came rushing together and attacked Yoroku, saying "We won't let our master's enemy live!" Yoroku thought nothing of their numbers and fought back, throwing and striking them. Osoma restrained the people and explained the circumstances step by step. Therefore, the subordinates were convinced, and from then on they all became Yoroku's retainers, forming a master-servant contract.
