現代語訳
久吉は五右衛門が退治した折、良丸の剣を見出し、生け捕りにしておいた五右衛門の父次郎右衛門をひそかに葛籠に入れて助け返し、かの剣と取り替えに偽勅使の正体を暴露した。そこで三好長慶が勅使四郎国長、御子を引き連れ、五右衛門を討ち取ろうと取り囲んだ。五郎は事ともせずして大勢を相手に切り抜け、習い覚えた忍術にて姿を隠し、足跡を暗まし、いずくともなく落ち失せた。
四郎国長はこの騒動で、かねてより長慶の謀反に一味であることが連判状を久吉に拾われ、一一に謀反が明らかになった。そこで、かねてより織田家から足利守護のために姿を変えて入り込んでいた人々が、三好親子を討ち取ろうとひしめいた。四郎は討たれて、長慶は一方を切り抜け落ち失せた。

Hisayoshi discovered Yoshimaru's sword when Goemon was subdued, and secretly helped Goemon's father Jiroemon, who had been taken alive, escape by hiding him in a wicker basket. In exchange for that sword, he exposed the true identity of the false imperial messenger. Thereupon, Miyoshi Chokei, leading the imperial messenger Shiro Kuninaga and his son, surrounded them to strike down Goemon. Goro thought nothing of it and cut through the large force, using the ninja arts he had learned to conceal his form, obscure his tracks, and vanish without a trace.
Through this disturbance, Shiro Kuninaga's complicity in Chokei's rebellion was revealed when Hisayoshi picked up a written pledge, exposing the rebellion piece by piece. Then the people who had long since infiltrated in disguise from the Oda house to protect the Ashikaga clamored to strike down the Miyoshi father and son. Shiro was killed, and Chokei cut through one direction and escaped.
