現代語訳
さる程に三好修理大夫長慶は、かねてからの謀反が明らかになり、本城衣笠山に引きこもり、一味の人数しきりに防戦の用意をなして、敵の寄せるのを今や今やと待ちかけたり。この下藤吉久吉は、すぐさま吉輝公の厳命によって、かねてより小田の伏せ兵をここかしこに埋伏させていたものを駆り集め、一手となって三好長慶が衣笠山の城に押し寄せ、無二無三に攻め立てる。
長慶自ら櫓に上がって下知をなし、弓矢の射手を揃えて雨霰と射かけた。久吉方にはわざと色めき勇猛の体を見せかけた。三好これを「撃って出でよ」というままに、大手の門をさっと開き、「これも、これも」と意気込みかかって撃って出る。

Meanwhile, Miyoshi Shuri-no-taifu Chokei, with his long-standing rebellion now exposed, withdrew to his main castle at Mount Kinugasa. His confederate forces busily prepared their defenses, eagerly awaiting the enemy's approach. Shimoto Tokichi Hisayoshi immediately followed Lord Yoshiteru's strict orders, gathering the Oda ambush troops that had been stationed here and there in advance, forming them into a single force to assault Miyoshi Chokei's castle at Mount Kinugasa with fierce determination.
Chokei himself climbed the watchtower to give commands, arranging his archers to shoot like falling rain and hail. Hisayoshi's forces deliberately displayed a show of vigor and bravery. When Miyoshi called out "Strike and sally forth!", they threw open the main gate and charged out with great spirit, crying "Here we go! Here we go!"
