一何様飯田迄罷出可申候と
被仰下候ニ付御暇申上罷出申候
一私共塩屋弥平治方ニ一宿仕候
一足助村役人え相尋申候趣別紙ニ
相認申候尚又咄ニ
机六七脚斗も用意可致候硯箱ハ
御入用ニ而無之候挙母ニ而ハ御供番
位之御仁御出役之由風聞ニ候へ共
足助ニ而ハ上より御使番之御方
御本陣へ御出被成候尚又御立之
節も若党鑓挟箱為御持
継上下ニ而御出御手札被差出御
挨拶有之候趣私共御見請申候
一都而御陣屋等有之候處へハ御立寄

現代語訳
一、何としても飯田まで参るべきであると
仰せくださいましたので、お暇を申し上げて出発いたします。
一、私どもは塩屋弥平治の家に一泊いたしました。
一、足助村の役人に尋ねました内容は別紙に
書き記しました。なおまた話によりますと、
机を六、七脚ほども用意すべきでしょう。硯箱は
ご入用ではございません。挙母では御供番
程度のお方がお出役されるという風聞でございますが、
足助では上位の御使番のお方が
本陣にお出でになられます。なおまた御出立の
際も若党が鑓・挟箱をお持ちして
お供し、上下の装いでお出でになり、御手札をお出しになって御
挨拶がございます趣を私どもは拝見いたしました。
一、すべて御陣屋などがございます所へはお立ち寄り
になられるとのことを承りました。
一、三州路においてもお別れになってお回り
になられます趣は別紙に書き記しました通りでございます。
一、道中御通行筋はことごとく道作りをしております。
山道までも砂を撒いて綺麗にしてあることで
ございます。
一、足助においても残らずというわけでは
ございませんが、荒廃しかけている家々が
ございます。
英語訳
One: Since you graciously told us that we should by all means proceed to Iida,
we requested leave and departed.
One: We lodged for one night at Shioya Yaheiji's residence.
One: The matters we inquired about with the Asuke village officials are
recorded in a separate document. Furthermore, according to what we heard,
we should prepare about six or seven desks. Inkstone boxes are
not required. At Koromo, we heard rumors that officials of about the rank of gokyu-ban
are assigned there, but
at Asuke, higher-ranking officials of the go-tsukai-ban
come to the honjin. Furthermore, when they depart,
young retainers carry spears and document boxes
as attendants, they appear in formal dress, present their credentials, and
perform greetings, which we witnessed.
One: We were told that they stop at all places
where there are government offices (jin'ya) and such.
One: Regarding how they separate and make their rounds
in Sanshu region as well, it is as recorded in the separate document.
One: Along all the routes they pass, road improvements have been made.
Even mountain paths have been made clean
by spreading sand.
One: At Asuke as well, though not without exception,
there are many houses that
have fallen into disrepair.
