Since it was the name of the place where [his ancestor] went down and resided, he took the name Tozawa. Hida-no-kami Iemori, the eleventh-generation descendant of Kanemori, moved to Kakunodate Castle in Dewa Province. This [Iemori] is said to be the seventh-generation ancestor of Jibū-no-taifu Morinobu.
Ukyōnosuke Masamori was initially called Kurō Gorō. When the Toyotomi Kanpaku went down to the northern provinces, [Masamori] rushed to join his camp and had his original domain confirmed (said to be Kakunodate, 40,000 koku). Later, when the Korean campaign arose, he participated in the campaign at Nagoya in Chikushi. In the autumn of Keichō 5 (1600), when Lord Tokugawa was to subjugate Aizu in the northern provinces, the people of Senboku received orders to serve under Dewa-no-kami Yoshimitsu, and they all gathered in Mogami District. Masamori deployed with a force of 2,700, but at such a time, military action also arose in the capital region,

and [the enemy] attempted to attack Lord Tokugawa from both east and west in a pincer movement. The people of Senboku, frightened by enemies they had never seen before, all withdrew to nearby positions and retreated. Thus, when it was heard that the western army was defeated at the Battle of Sekigahara, Naoe Yamashiro-no-kami Kanetsugu, the Uesugi general who had been fighting with Mogami during this time, abandoned Yamagami Castle and withdrew to Yonezawa. With Yoshimitsu's third son, Shimizu Kurō-no-taifu, as general and a force of 15,000, they captured Sakata Castle. In the same 7th year, summer, [Masamori] was granted Naka District in Hitachi Province and moved there (40,000 koku). In the 14th year, he was granted court rank and made Ukyōnosuke, receiving a ceremonial sword. When the Osaka campaign arose, he defended Odawara Castle in Sagami Province and [guarded] Hakone
