現代語訳
さらに慶応四年（辰年）に町年寄役に復職することを命じられ、御仕送り役についてもこれまで通り任命していただき、安政四年（巳年）には息子の庄蔵が仕送り役見習いを命じられ扶持をいただき、重いご恩恵をいただいております。さらに御衣服や御上下、度々の御品物など数度拝領し、去る巳年には三之丸内での杖の使用をお許しいただき、重ね重ね冥加至極でありがたい次第と存じております。この上は精を出して勤め、ご恩恵にお報いしたいと願っておりますが、もともと近眼のところ、近頃は特に体調が悪くなり、その上持病の疝癪が折々発症し難儀至極いたしております。恐れ入りますこの時節柄でございますが、右の御役儀をお許し免じていただきますようお願い申し上げます。
右の趣旨につきまして、ご慈悲をもってお願い申し上げます通りお命じいただけますれば、ありがたい次第と存じます。以上

Furthermore, in Keio 4 (year of the dragon, 1868), I was commanded to return to the position of town elder, and was appointed to continue the messenger role as before. In Ansei 4 (year of the snake, 1857), my son Shozo was commanded to serve as an apprentice messenger and received a stipend, for which I am deeply grateful for Your Lordship's profound benevolence. Additionally, I have received imperial clothing, formal court dress, and various gifts on multiple occasions. Last snake year, I was granted permission to use a walking stick within the Sannomaru compound, which is an extremely fortunate blessing for which I am most grateful. I wish to work diligently and repay Your Lordship's great benevolence, but I have been nearsighted from birth, and recently my health has particularly deteriorated. Moreover, my chronic abdominal ailment flares up frequently, causing me extreme difficulty. Although I am deeply ashamed to make this request during these times, I humbly petition that you grant me release from these official duties.
Regarding the above matter, if you could graciously command as I have petitioned through your mercy, it would be most grateful. The above.
