女芸者は珍しくないので、若衆芸者として地方の若衆の体裁に作り立て、女芸者の「転ぶ」気味に「のめる」と名づけて、色事のできる趣向はどうも言えまいと物を入れたところが、なんと流行りそうなものか、いかが。

They named it "nomeru" (to drink/fall) after the female geisha's tendency to "korobu" (fall/tumble), suggesting that romantic affairs might be possible - though one cannot really say such things openly. When they introduced this concept, how trendy it seemed!
