現代語訳
また押しかけ俳諧ということを工夫し、「御俳諧の御相手いたしましょう」と言って、二人三人ほど組み合って歩き回り、込み入った所で俳諧を始めた。一刻（約二時間）門口へ札を掛けて置くので、晩方になって点者は「即点々々」と言って歩き、札の掛かっている所を見て案内を乞い、内へ入って点を付ける。米搗きが来た夕べも、糠買いが来る上である。下句合、本句合、通則、文台硯、白墨まで持参して、手前弁当にて、百韻につき代金四百文あまり、高くないものだが利益は少なくて流行らず。

英語訳
They also devised something called "oshi-kake haikai" (pushy haikai), saying "We shall serve as your partners for haikai poetry," and formed groups of two or three people, walking around and starting haikai sessions in crowded places. They would hang a sign at the gate for one toki (about two hours), so by evening the judge would walk around calling "Immediate scoring! Immediate scoring!" When they saw a place with a sign hung, they would request entry and go inside to provide scoring. Even on evenings when rice-pounders came, or when bran-buyers came by. They brought everything themselves - concluding verse contests, main verse contests, prosodic rules, writing desk and inkstone, even white ink - all at their own expense. For a hundred-verse sequence, the fee was a bit over 400 mon. Though not expensive, the profit was small and it didn't become popular.
