【横書】歴代有功王叔

現代語訳

月。国王は斎戒して挙行し、山海及び護国の神を祭る。或いは官を遣わして礼を行う。弁岳の神を祝祝と名づける。すなわち天孫氏の第二女である。神垣が四周を囲み、叢木は最も密集している。小門は内に拒んで南向きである。門外に木亭が二所ある。左傍に小石塔及び石灯案がある。左右各五つ。門内に入ると、石段が北に折れ曲がって東に向かう。数十の階級を登って頂に至る。何もない所で、石炉の上に香数十枝を炷くのみである。これが本山の神を祭る処である。木亭の前は平地で方広である。南向して海を見る。東南方に一つの石炉があり香を炷く。これが海神を祭る処である。国中凡そ叢木が密生し、短垣が四周を囲み、小門内拒がある者を、皆岳と名づける。中国の土地神の如し。村村皆これがある。

【崇元寺の先王の廟】春秋の二祭。或いは親ら祭り、或いは官を遣わす。三日斎す。楽は俱に天孫太平の歌を用いる。祖宗の功徳、神霊歴世綿遠の意を歌う。

【円覚寺】本宗の香火。時祭がある。月祭がある。《割書：蘭盆祭と名づける》三日斎す。忌辰には特祭がある。朔望には茶を献ずる。天王寺天界寺も礼は同じ。

month. The king observes purification rites and conducts ceremonies to worship the gods of mountains and seas as well as the protective deities of the nation. Sometimes officials are dispatched to perform the rituals. The deity of Ben-dake is named Shukushuku, who is the second daughter of the Tenson clan. Sacred walls surround the area on four sides, with dense groves of trees clustered together. A small gate faces inward toward the south. Outside the gate are two wooden pavilions. On the left side are small stone pagodas and stone lamp stands, five on each side. Upon entering the gate, stone steps curve north and then turn east. Climbing several dozen steps to reach the summit, there is nothing there except burning dozens of incense sticks on a stone brazier. This is the place for worshipping the deity of the main mountain. In front of the wooden pavilion is flat, square land. Facing south, one can see the ocean. In the southeast direction is a stone brazier where incense is burned. This is the place for worshipping the sea god. Throughout the country, wherever there are dense groves surrounded by low walls with small inward-facing gates, all are called "dake" (peaks). They are like the earth gods of China. Every village has them.

【Sogen Temple's shrine of former kings】Spring and autumn sacrifices. Sometimes the king personally conducts the rituals, sometimes officials are dispatched. Three days of purification. Music consistently uses songs of Tenson Taihei. They sing of the merits and virtues of ancestral kings, and the meaning of divine spirits continuing through generations.

【Engaku Temple】Incense offerings of the main sect. There are seasonal festivals. There are monthly festivals. (Note: Called Bon Festival) Three days of purification. On death anniversaries there are special ceremonies. On new moon and full moon days, tea is offered. Tenno Temple and Tenkai Temple follow the same rituals.
