ヲ今夜髙松殿ヲ襲ヒ火ヲ其三方ニ放チ一面ヨリ攻
擊セン歒火ヲ避￣ク ル者ハ中リ矢ヲ避ル者ハ燒死
セン況ヤ歒將、戰ヲ知ル者ハ獨リ臣カ兄義朝ノミ然レ
トモ臣一矢コレヲ斃サン其餘將士拒ク者ハ臣縱橫合
戰、遠キ者ハ射殺シ近キ者ハ斬殺セン平清盛等ノ如キ
弱弓細矢、臣鎧袖一ヒ觸レハ皆自ラ倒レン此時乘輿
出サルヲ得ス臣其從者ヲ射バ從者乘輿ヲ捨テ奔ラ
シ即チ乘輿ヲ此ニ遷シ陛下ヲカレニ奉戴セン其易キ

コト掌ヲ反スカ如シ天未タ明サルニ大事咸ク成ラン
頼長曰爲朝ノ謀未タ密ナラス夫レ夜戰ハ年少私闘
ノ事ナリ今兩帝國ヲ爭ヒ源平相歒ス當ニ堂々ノ陣
ヲ用ユヘシ南都僧侶千余騎召ニ應シテ旦ニ來ラン
明日ヲ待テ戰フ未タ晩カラスト爲朝出テ罵テ曰￣ク和
漢ノ事ヲ按シ朝廷ノ禮節ヲ制スルハ公卿ノ任ナリ
軍旅ニ至テハ冝ク將帥ニ任スヘシ公卿何ヲカ知ラ
ン家兄謀略有リ今夜必來リ襲ン明日ノ僧兵何ノ益
アラン吾謀用￣ヰ ラレス命ナルカナ爲義亦謀ヲ獻ス頼
長聽カス乃チ其六子ト八甲ヲ分テ之ヲ擐キ一ヲ義

国を服従させました。城を攻め陣を破るには、夜戦に如くものはありません。臣は請い
ます。今夜、高松殿を襲い、火をその三方に放ち、一面より攻
撃いたしましょう。敵が火を避ける者は矢に当たり、矢を避ける者は焼死
するでしょう。況してや敵将で戦を知る者は、独り臣の兄義朝のみ。然れ
ども臣は一矢でこれを斃しましょう。その余の将士で抵抗する者は、臣が縦横に合
戦し、遠き者は射殺し、近き者は斬殺しましょう。平清盛等のような
弱弓細矢では、臣の鎧袖一触で皆自ら倒れましょう。この時、御輿は
出ることを得ず、臣がその従者を射れば、従者は御輿を捨てて奔る
でしょう。即ち御輿をここに遷し、陛下をかしこに奉戴しましょう。その易き

頼長は言った。「為朝の謀は未だ密ではない。それ夜戦は年少の私闘
の事である。今、両帝が国を争い、源平相対している。当に堂々の陣
を用いるべし。南都の僧侶千余騎が召に応じて旦に来るであろう。
明日を待って戦うも未だ晩くはない」と。為朝は出て罵って言った。「和
漢の事を按じ、朝廷の礼節を制するは公卿の任である。
軍旅に至っては宜しく将帥に任すべし。公卿何を知ら
ん。家兄に謀略あり、今夜必ず来り襲わん。明日の僧兵何の益
あらん。吾が謀用いられず。命なるかな」為義もまた謀を献じたが、頼
長は聞かなかった。乃ちその六子と八甲を分けてこれを着け、一つを義

Tametomo stepped forward and said: "I, your subject, while in Chinzei (Kyushu), fought twenty major battles and dozens of minor ones, and brought all nine
provinces under submission. For attacking castles and breaking through battle lines, nothing surpasses night warfare. I humbly request
permission to attack Takamatsuden tonight, set fires on three sides, and launch an assault from one direction.
Those enemies who flee the fire will be struck by arrows, and those who avoid the arrows will burn to death.

employ dignified battle formations. Over a thousand mounted warrior-monks from the southern capital (Nara) will respond to our summons and come at dawn.

and Kan (Japan and China), regulating court ceremonies and etiquette is the duty of court nobles.
