妹ヲ娶リ一男ヲ生ム爲朝時ニ年廿八居ルコト數年桑
梓ノ念自ラ禁ツルコト能ハス是ニ於テ妻子ヲ携ヘ故
國ニ還ントス䌫ヲ牧港ニ解キ航海數里颶風驟ニ起
リ却テ牧港ニ漂着ス數月ヲ閲テ吉日ヲ擇ヒ再ヒ發
ス未タ數里ナラスシテ颶風復起ルコト故ノ如シ舟人
之ヲ卜ス曰ク男女舟ヲ同ス海神崇ヲナスト爲朝乃

In the Hōgen Rebellion, he followed his father Tameyoshi and served the retired emperor. In decisive battles he fought very fiercely, and all enemies cowered in fear. When the rebellion was quelled, he was taken prisoner, his arm tendons were severed, and he was exiled to Izu Ōshima. Nevertheless, his use of the bow remained superior to before. In the first year of Eiman, kinoto-tori, one day Tametomo said with deep emotion: "How could a great man die in vain?" He then took provisions, went out to sea, and sought a country. A violent storm suddenly arose and the ship was about to capsize. The sailors were terrified. Tametomo calmly said: "Fate lies in heaven." After several days, they reached an island. This was Ryukyu. Later people named that place Unten. This is present-day Unten Bay in Yamahoku. Tametomo came ashore and toured extensively throughout the island, and eventually stayed for a year. The natives were drawn to his virtue, submitted to his courage, and those who respected and admired him increased daily. He married the younger sister of the Ōzato Aji and had one son. Tametomo was then twenty-eight years old. After residing there for several years, he could not suppress his longing for his homeland. Therefore, he took his wife and child and attempted to return to his native country. He cast off the moorings at Makiminato and sailed several ri, but a hurricane suddenly arose and he drifted back to Makiminato instead. After several months passed, he chose an auspicious day and departed again. Before traveling even a few ri, the hurricane arose again just as before. The sailors divined this and said: "Men and women are on the same boat; the sea god is showing displeasure." Tametomo then said to his wife: "I have been intimately bound with you for a long time. Nevertheless, as husband and wife..."
