これらの書物を引用する。故に俗っぽい言葉があっても全てこれを改変しない。また我が国の古書で琉球のことを記すものは大抵雅語と俗語を混在させており、当時の原文をそのまま載せるものが多い。今もまた大抵その真の姿を保存する。これもまた古を考証するための一端である。

一、私は米本子と共に公務の余暇を以てこの書の削除・補足・校正に従事した。随時起草し、随時校正し、随時印刷に付す。恐らく魯と魚を間違えるような誤りがあるだろう。読者はどうか諸々を諒解されよ。

Moreover, our ancient books that record matters about Ryukyu generally mix elegant and colloquial language, and many directly reproduce the original texts of their time. Now we also generally preserve their authentic form. This too is one aspect of providing material for historical research.

One: I, together with Yonemoto-ko, have engaged in the editing, supplementing, and proofreading of this book during leisure time from official duties. We drafted as we went, proofread as we went, and sent to print as we went. There will likely be errors such as confusing "lu" and "yu" [i.e., similar-looking characters]. May readers kindly understand these various [shortcomings].
