年を越て翌年二月に中津之御米を江
戸え積廻 同四月六日江戸を出舟して奥
州に下り津軽に御米を江戸え積運ぶうち
未の年もくれて翌《割書：申》年 改元（カイケン）有て明和元年
となりぬ同六月初より津軽之材木を
つむとて奥州に下り立火の湊にて材木
を積出江戸え運ばん為同年七月廿日此所
を出舟す順風にて十四五 里（リ）沖に出ける時何とか

れてやぐらの上よりうづまく浪に落出
ける是はと船中立さわき■を投（ナケ）こみ

扨帆をおろし大勢がうちのり漕行てたすけん
ととやかくとする内にはるかにへたたりけれは
海上そこよ爰よとたづねけれ共浮める姿も見へ
されは力なくたすけ得すして橋舟は空しく

戸へ積み回し、同四月六日江戸を出船して奥
州に下り、津軽で御米を江戸へ積み運ぶうちに
未の年も暮れて翌申年、改元があって明和元年
となった。同六月初めより津軽の材木を
積むとて奥州に下り、立火の湊にて材木
を積み出し江戸へ運ぼうため、同年七月二十日この所
を出船した。順風にて十四五里沖に出た時、何としたことか

したのであろうか、炊きの源蔵（今年十九歳）が吹き出す帆の足に捕ら
れて櫓の上より渦巻く波に落ち出た。
これはと船中立ち騒ぎ、縄を投げ込み
板を投げ入れ、水竿を流し「泳げ泳げ」と声をかけ、
さて帆を下ろし大勢が船に乗り込み漕ぎ行って助けよう
とあれこれする内に、はるかに離れてしまったので、
海上そこここと尋ねたけれども、浮かんでいる姿も見え
なかったので、力なく助け得ずして、船は空しく

After the New Year, in the second month of the following year, they loaded rice from Nakatsu for Edo, and on the sixth day of the fourth month departed Edo and went down to Ōshū. While transporting rice from Tsugaru to Edo, the year of the Sheep ended and the following year of the Monkey arrived, with a change of era name to Meiwa 1 (1764). From early in the sixth month of the same year, they went down to Ōshū to load timber from Tsugaru. At Tatebi Harbor, they loaded timber to transport to Edo, and on the twentieth day of the seventh month of the same year, they departed from this place. it happened that the cook Genzō (nineteen years old this year) was caught by the billowing sail and fell from above the oar platform into the swirling waves. "Oh no!" the ship's crew cried out in alarm, throwing ropes into the water, throwing in boards, floating water poles, and calling out "Swim! Swim!" Then they lowered the sails and many crew members took to rowing to try to rescue him. But while they were doing this and that, he had drifted far away, so they searched here and there on the sea, but could see no sign of him floating. Powerless to rescue him, the ship was left empty-handed.
