1. In the third room, hereditary retainers (gofudai) and outer lords, along with Buddhist prelates of hoin and hogen rank, lined up.
1. On the southern veranda, guards, ceremonial announcers, squad leaders, and various officials lined up.
1. On the western veranda, the high families (koke) lined up.
1. Before the lord's appearance, Matsudaira Satsuma-no-kami moved to the area outside the screens between the Great Hall and Pine Room.

He also announced the matter of personal gifts to be bestowed upon both envoys. The senior councilor then appeared before the lord, reported his compliance, and withdrew. Satsuma-no-kami attended, and there was an audience within the lower section's threshold area, which the ceremonial announcer proclaimed.
