現代語訳
すでに夜の戌の刻ばかりに、文太夫婦が簀巻きにされて海に打ち込まれようとしたところに、代官所より御使いとして何某が来られて、文太夫婦の罪を許し、柴漬けを止めさせたのであった。ありがたいことである。
「さあ文太よ、そなた夫婦が鴛鴦の鳥のために罪に問われることを不憫にお思いになって、お助けがあるのだ。」
英語訳
Just as it was around the hour of the dog at night, when Buntā and his wife were about to be thrown into the sea wrapped in reed mats, a certain messenger came from the magistrate's office, pardoned the couple's crime, and ordered the execution by drowning to be stopped. How grateful this was!
"Now then, Buntā, [the lord] has taken pity on you and your wife being punished because of the mandarin ducks, and has granted you salvation."
