文太ふうふふし付のなんを
のがれぼうぜんとしていたり
しが代くわんしよのさむらい
両人にむかいま事はわれ
をし鳥のつがいなり
はからずも代ぐうじに

めん鳥をしたう事年
久く候むすめのなさけに
よつていのちたすけられ
そのへんれいとして人々を
今又たすけ申也とたちまち
さむらいつかいのをしと
なりはうちしてとび

現代語訳
【文太】
代官所の侍と見えたのは、さてはこしほが放した鴛鴦であったのだな。これより夫婦も都へ尋ね行き、娘に会おうぞ。
不思議なことよ。
【本文】
文太夫婦は柴漬けの難を逃れ、呆然としていたが、代官所の侍両人に向かい申すことには「我らは鴛鴦の番である。はからずも大宮司に捕らわれ、籠の内にて雌鳥を慕うこと年久しく候。娘の情けによって命を助けられ、その返礼として人々を今また助け申すのである」と言うや、たちまち侍は番の鴛鴦となり、羽打ちして飛び去っていった。

【Buntā】
Those who appeared to be samurai from the magistrate's office were indeed the mandarin ducks that Koshiho had set free! Now we husband and wife shall also journey to the capital to seek out and meet our daughter.
What a wondrous thing!
【Main text】
Buntā and his wife had escaped the calamity of being bundled in brushwood and were standing there dazed, when the two samurai from the magistrate's office spoke to them, saying: "We are a pair of mandarin ducks. We were unexpectedly captured by the high priest, and for many years we yearned for each other while confined in a cage. Through your daughter's compassion our lives were saved, and as repayment for that kindness, we have now come to rescue you people as well." No sooner had they spoken than the samurai transformed into a pair of mandarin ducks, beat their wings, and flew away.
