現代語訳
舞鶴屋の企みがいよいよ出来上がり、これまで見たことのない人魚の花魁を、夕暮れの少し薄暗くなった町路の見世先から中の町へと出した。その日はどうにかこうにか化けの皮を現さずに、茶化しで済ませてしまった。
♪黒子（後見人）が後ろから手助けをする。
♪人魚遣いということは、この時から始まったというのか。これ作者よ、そうは言わせぬぞ、震え震え。
♪あれが突き出し（新人花魁のお披露目）だそうな。なるほど顔は美しいが、道中（花魁道中）が変だぞ、谷我子よ。
♪江戸屋に確か甚五郎さんがいらしたよ。

Maizuru-ya's scheme finally came to fruition, and he brought out this unprecedented mermaid courtesan from the brothel front to Naka-no-chō in the slightly dim twilight streets. That day, somehow or other, she managed not to reveal her true nature and got by with just being teased.
