現代語訳

棋局の高さは一尺ほど。脚は二、三寸。面の厚さは七、八寸。極めて堅く重い。傾いたり側に倒れたりしないようになっている。黒石は黧石を磨いて作る。白石は螺や蛤の頂骨を磨いて作る。人は皆碁を得意とする。これを悟棋と呼ぶ。対局時には四隅の黒白の勢子は用いない。局が終わると空眼の多少を数えて勝負を決める。実石は数えない。また象棋もある。

榼
士大夫の家には一榼がある。或いは朱色、或いは黒色。金を滲ませて彩色を施す。製作は甚だ精巧である。郊外で飲食する際には各自一具を携える。中の四器に食物を置く。傍らに酒壺一つ、盞一つ、箸二本を置く。諸具がほぼ備わっている。民家の食榼は、或いは方形、或いは円形。皆三、四層に作る。木を刳り抜いて作る。

英語訳

The chess board is about one shaku high. The legs are two to three sun. The surface thickness is seven to eight sun. It is extremely sturdy and heavy, so that it will not tilt or fall to the side. Black stones are made by polishing lei stones. White stones are made by polishing the top bones of snails and clams. People are all skilled at go. They call it "enlightenment chess" (go-ki). When playing, they do not use the black and white positioning stones at the four corners. When the game ends, they count the number of empty intersections to determine victory or defeat. They do not count the actual stones. There is also xiangqi (Chinese chess).

Food Container (Kaku)
Scholar-official families have one food container. Some are vermillion, some are black. They are decorated with gold inlay and coloring. The craftsmanship is very refined. When dining in the countryside, each person carries one set. Food is placed in the four vessels inside. Alongside are placed one wine pot, one cup, and two chopsticks. All utensils are generally complete. Common people's food containers are either square or round. All are made in three or four tiers. They are made by hollowing out wood.
