大悲の観世音でおられるとしても、光を和らげ塵に交わられる時は菅丞相と現れ、迹を北野に垂れられ、百王鎮護の神と祝われている。どの大社・宗廟の神にこの理がないものがあろうか。しかのみならず、国常立尊と申し上げるのは、天地未開闢、人間が一人もいなかった以前からの神でおられるのに、これも人間であると申すのか。言うことはない。

言うことはない。知れることは知るとし、知らないことは知らないとせよ。神と申すことについては、至聖の孔子でさえも「天下の人をして斎明に服を盛んにして祭祀を承けしめ、洋洋乎として其の上に在すが如く、其の左右に在すが如し」と宣われているのに、目を閉じ、耳を塞いでいるのであろうか。キリシタンどもの口にかけて何かと申すのは恐ろしい。誠に舌を抜かれる業を招く者である。日本は
