Written as "Nittūsho" (Daily Calendar), it is used provisionally throughout the country while awaiting (the arrival of the official calendar from the Celestial Dynasty). Together with the official calendar bestowed by the Celestial Dynasty, they obtain compliance, representing the orthodox calendar of one king—this is the meaning of honoring the king and sinicization for thousands and millions of years.
Rituals and Ceremonies
【Winter Solstice and New Year's Day】The king wears a leather cap and holds a jade tablet, first worshipping the yearly fortune deity 《Marginal note: Bowing toward the direction where the yearly fortune deity resides》. Then, facing north, he remotely offers congratulations for "Ten thousand, ten thousand years to His Imperial Majesty," completing the ritual of three kneelings and nine kowtows before ascending to the hall to receive congratulatory ceremonies from all officials. Following Ming protocol, they take their positions in ranks: one bow, kneel, three prostrations, rise, one bow, kneel, three more prostrations, rise, and one more bow to complete the ceremony, all accompanied by music. Ming envoy Xia Ziyang's mission record states: "After the New Year's ceremony, each official changes to regular dress, and the king also wears loose, broad brocade robes and a five-colored brocade hat, sitting in a two-story pavilion. The assembled officials kneel below the steps singing songs of peace; those of lower rank keep rhythm and sing in harmony, while those of higher rank offer wine cups for longevity toasts. The king also bestows wine and delicacies according to their ranks." On the fifteenth day of each month, officials from Kumemura of the rank of Tayu and below pay court to the king and are granted tea and wine. Ministers of the native country are granted only tea.
【Lantern Festival】The king ascends the hall to receive congratulatory ceremonies the same as on New Year's Day.
【Imperial Longevity and Birthday】The king leads his courtiers facing north to offer congratulations following the same ritual as New Year's Day.
【King's Birthday】He ascends the hall to receive congratulatory ceremonies as on the Lantern Festival. All officials' promotions are decided on this day by calculating merit and determining rank.
